America is peaceful and back at the top of the world seventy years after the Second Revolutionary War tore through the country and gave birth to Central--the new government. For Lily Sandover the Second Revolution is just another war to learn about in school, until her political father gets promoted into Central and she is taught that everything is not as it appears. Lily's family soon gets invited into a branch of Central that acts more like an exclusive club called the Commission of the People, and once you're in the Commission, you're in the Commission for life. The Commission of the People is responsible for keeping the peace of America, and Lily soon learns that the peace comes at an extremely high price. Using her position inside the Commission, and the obsession that the leader of the Commission has for her, she tries to find a way to change the face of America and bring down the Commission of the People.
Inside Part 1 Kyra Anderson 9780983228066 Books
This book is messed up. Oddly enough, that's actually a compliment.I can honestly say I was expecting a teen book about a kid who moves to a new school and deals with some typical dystopian sort of situation.
A WORLD OF NOPE! This book took a freak turn into creeptown and only got horrifyingly worse! Do not expect a light young adult read! This is not that kind of book. It's perverted, mildly frightening in a "there's no escape" feel, and it has this impending sense of doom. I don't know how the author did it, but I could actually feel the anxiety and dread that these characters faced.
I don't know what this says about me as a human, but for the most part, I loved it! This girl is trying to fight off an antagonist that has everyone wrapped around his finger, so she has almost no sense of hope despite her efforts. I think the frequent sexual references was a bit much and obviously pedophile in nature, so that is something to consider for a senstitive reader. Despite finding that aspect to be disturbing, I enjoyed this dark version of a dystopian novel.
Recommended for someone prepared for a horrifying journey that will leave you feeling twisted if not mildly concerned.
Note: it's not a first book, but a first part. There's no ending, so the second and third books are a straight continuation of this long-ass story.

Inside Part 1 Kyra Anderson 9780983228066 Books Reviews
Inside blends together fantasy and reality by taking a hard look at a very dark "What if?" scenario.
Imagine if today's shoot-from-the-hip, instant reactions spiraled out of control and all the extremes of today happened at once. That was decades before this book even starts.
You empathize and relate to the main character because we've all been there young, unsure, complacent with the life you've lived so far, but something still nagging at the back of your mind. You feel her being pushed and pulled by the society that has become of America. Your emotions are matched with that of a teenage girl, not just because of the first person perspective, but because they feel natural.
The people around her are normal people (for the most part- no spoilers from me!), and their reactions and thoughts are taken from today. Her father is a career politician that only wants what best for his family and the people he represents (the later being new by the past's standards), her mother; wants the perfect family. Hell, even the CAT is normal! Whether your political beliefs are left or right, religious or not, take a step back and realize this is a characters journey through one hell of an ordeal. While you personally may not do exactly as her, you understand and you might even laugh and nod your head "yeah..."
Part 1 introduces us to each character, it paints the picture of a new world. It shows you the curtain, then pulls it back, revealing what has to be hidden.
BE WARNED It does get dark...It does get dangerous...It gets very, very, real.
Stumbled on Inside while browsing free downloads. Honestly, I was expecting some Hunger Games/Divergent-type knockoff. However, this book carries its own weight! The basic premise is the same a teenage female protagonist rebelling against a dystopian America. The first few chapters start slowly with the exposition intermixed with your typical high schoolish drama. However, keep reading because the story quickly picks up.
The author creates a believable world through fascinating attention to detail. The use of first-person narrative effectively forces the reader to witness and experience a dystopian society as Lily did. The realism makes the novel feel like an autobiography at times! However, what's most frightening is the dialogue. The book has a clear villain in Dana, but not everything is black and white. Characters, including Lily and Dana, are flawed, but their personalities and beliefs seem all too human. The writing had me questioning my own humanity as I sometimes found myself nodding to parts that I should have been vehemently against.
TLDR? Don't let that be an excuse to avoid reading this novel. The story becomes more enthralling as the plot progresses and characters are introduced and developed. It only took me a few days to finish the nearly 450 pages (fast by my standards). Can't wait to continue with part 2!
This entire series is full of turns that are both expected and not expected. I loved reading about Lily's mindset throughout her journey. I don't recommend this for people who are easily offended or are not prepared to see some of today's top issues challenged in a very brutal fashion at times. However, if you are looking for something that will make you think and push your limits, I would highly recommend reading this.
I really do not know where to begin with this book except at WOW! I was blown away by this story. This book is set after the Second American Revolution. I can truly see how our country today could end up as the country in the book. This book has everything action, suspense, romance etc. I absolutely love to hate Dana, one of the main characters in this book. I do not want to give any spoilers, but I will say this book is not for the faint of heart or easily offended. If you love a book that will put you on edge, this is the one for you. I have just started the second part and I cannot wait to see what happens. You will not be dissapointed.
Overall, a wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable novel. One of the greatest points of this series is the amazing and complex amount of world building that is only hinted at in some places. From the beginning, there is so much intrigue about the origin of this future and really makes you long for more details.
While it admittedly start a little slow, when things start to pick up, things really get rolling. Lily is a believable, though naive, protagonist. She is so full of righteous but realistic idealism that puts her so at odds with the world around her. Lily's world is a dark world--xenophobic and homophobic to a dark extreme and her indignation rings very true in your mind as you read. The ending is poignant and pitch-perfect for the first part!
